Woodworking Projects – Woodworking Plans Made Simple

Do you love woodworking as a hobby? If you do, you probably have your own designs and plans in mind. For many woodworking enthusiasts the best way to start learning about woodworking is by actually building a few simple projects. By doing this, you can gain first hand experience and confidence while also putting to practice your basic skills.

If you’ve got this creative, loving desire to turn something worn out or perhaps remodel an old, battered piece of furniture into something sleek and awesomely stylish, you’ll definitely love projects below! These are some most wonderful and awesome woodworking projects which sell with excellent step by step assembly instructions, plus also with complete list of materials and tools required! So that you can get started conveniently, here are the two most popular woodworking plans: the chicken coup and the cat’s meow. Both these plans are easy to follow and are excellent starter plans for woodworking beginners.

Chicken Coup: Chicken coup is one of my favorite plans and can be done with mostly any kind of basic and small tools. The basic tools you’ll need to include fine-grit sandpaper, wood stain, wood sealer, finishing nails or screw drivers, wood shimps, pliers, crescent wrench, screw driver, and an adjustable spanner or a horizontal spanner. All you will also need these supplies: a trash bag in which you can throw shredded paper, scissors, wire, nails or screws, crescent wrench, hook or loop tape measure, measuring tape, and a pencil. Also, since we’re dealing with plans for a picnic table, you’ll want to grab a few picnic table plans so you can have a clear idea of how your picnic table plans will translate to a woodworking project. Picnic table plans usually come in three parts: the platform, the legs, and the top.

The first step in building a birch dowel is to cut a birch dowel that is one fourth of an inch longer than the desired length of the table. You should be able to insert your screwdriver in its center hole without penetrating the wood. Then, use wood shims to smooth out any edges that may exist on the birch dowel. These edges will be useful for sharpening the legs later on.

Now that you’ve got your dowel, put together three more pieces that are one-fourth of an inch longer than your desired length. Use a plywood panel as the sides to hold your dowels in place. This will also serve as the legs for your new project. Here is where you can start thinking about adding some more small woodworking projects such as a birdhouse or even a shed.

Build a small woodworking project from your plans by putting together a leg and a stand. Use wood shims to make sure that your stand is level before you attach it to the other end of the dowel. Use your woodworking skills to make a saw cutting a box from your plans. Using a little bit of your woodworking project materials, make four more box-like legs. Attach them to the ends of your box to form a nice looking fence.

If you wish to finish your wooden birdhouse, attach some small wooden planks to its four sides. Use a few screws to hang it up in your porch or veranda. Finish it off with some painted wood trim and you’re done! You now have a lovely ornamental birdhouse that is not only functional but also a piece of furniture you can enjoy for a long time.

Woodworking is a fun hobby to get into and the best thing about it is that it doesn’t require any special skills. If you can hammer in a nail, saw a piece of wood and build a good foundation, then you’re halfway there. You don’t have to be an expert to start learning woodworking and in no time you will be enjoying the fruits (and vegetables) of your labor. Get some plans today and start building something that you will be proud to display in your home.
